Problem with placing feedback is now fixed, yay!

Over the last couple of months there have been issues with placing feedback on Felt transactions. The good news is, the problem is fixed!

If you have purchased or sold anything on Felt and had issues placing feedback, you can now place feedback on those transactions.

You can place feedback on your past purchases by logging in to your account and clicking “Items you’ve bought” under “Purchases”. If you haven’t already placed feedback on an item, there will be a “Place feedback” link to the right hand side of each item on the list.

To place feedback on sales you’ve made on Felt, log in to your account and click “Item’s I’ve sold (orders)” under “Shop”. Again, if you haven’t already placed feedback on an item, there will be a “Place feedback” link to the right hand side of each item on the list.

Thank you for your patience while this problem has been occurring.

Crafty Girls’ Road Trip – Ann Packer

Crafty Girls' Road Trip

Focusing mainly on fibre arts and textiles, Crafty Girls’ Road Trip is a guide around New Zealand’s treasure troves for embroiderers, patchworkers, knitters, spinners and other crafty types. Organised geographically, it includes recommendations of good places to eat and nice places to stay as well as suggested itineraries for a day, a weekend, a long weekend or a week in each of the regions.

Crafty Girls’ Road Trip is a fantastic idea and a great book to have in the car on your summer holidays. It had me all inspired to call up a few girlfriends and plan an excursion. I was a bit disappointed that most of the shops and artists featured were based in fibre and textile crafts – it would be nice to see a more comprehensive guide (or perhaps a series) covering a few other crafts as well, although perhaps it would be a bit more difficult to keep up to date!

The regions covered are: North of Auckland; Auckland; Waikato/Bay of Plenty/Taupo; East Coast North Island; Taranaki/Manawatu; Wellington/Wairarapa; Top of the South Island; Canterbury; Dunedin/Central Otago/Southland.

The Little Gems

timtams

In Paekakariki near Wellington, Shelley, Helen, Carmen and Jackie block out their diaries every Tuesday for their Little Gems session – inspiration, craftiness, hot cups of tea and Tim Tams.

The Little Gems are:
Shelley Gardner, soheartfelt: a South African who has only been here a year but loving it!

Helen Heath, showyourwork: crafter, writer, reader, blogger, mother, lover (of chocolate).

Carmen Slater, rosieposie: painter, crafter, book maker, grain farmer’s daughter.

Jackie Haddow: lover of beads – anything sparkly, vintage button collector. Moved from England 18 months ago, where I used to do various crafts (Paper Mache, glass painting).

How did you all meet?

Paekakariki is a small village and it didn’t take us long to sniff out the fellow crafters!

Were your crafting sessions an organised thing from the beginning, or did the idea evolve?

Shelley: For me it started with the website Etsy. I loved the concept of a global crafting community. I also found many inspiring blogs which made me feel that there were many like minded people out there. When I discovered friends who got equally excited about op shops, vintage things, paper, glue and any other crafty widgit it made sense to “share the love” on a regular basis. It all started getting ready for the Paekakariki School fair so we decided to meet regularly. Before we knew it – we had signed up for a couple of tables at various crafting events.

What do the Little Gems sessions mean to you?

It’s a safe place for growing confidence, trust, inspiration, self expression, self worth and most importantly – having a good laugh.

Shelley: I remember walking into Helen’s house for the first time for our first get together and thinking “this is me – these are things I love – we speak the same language”. It meant a lot to me, especially coming from a different country with a very different culture.

Helen: It’s so great to be able to bounce ideas around the table over a hot cuppa and support each other through our craft doubts.

Carmen: Once my children went off to school I found the time to be more creative and hanging out with The Little Gems set me off on new craft path.

Jackie: I find it very inspiring, it gives me more confidence to explore all the crafty things I used to love when I was younger.

Do your meetings follow any kind of structure or are they informal?

The most important structural element is that there has to be a packet of Tim Tams.

Between the four of you, what crafts do you cover?

We are game for anything, on any given session there is: sewing, paper craft, bookmaking, jewellery, writing, baking. We’re always up for skill swapping…

I’m interested in hearing more about crafty groups around the country – if you and your crafty friends have regular get-togethers, write and tell me about it. Or if you’re interested in setting up crafting sessions, maybe there’s someone else on Felt who lives in your area. Post a comment below or drop me an email at admin@felt.co.nz.

Felt’s big day out at Craft2.0

great turnout!
1000 people through the doors in the first hour!

Craft2.0 at TheNewDowse on Easter Saturday was a huge success, attracting a record crowd of an estimated 5000 visitors. There was an amazing array of pretty, styley and quirky products, all crafted beautifully and proudly presented by their makers.

I had a great time talking to stallholders and meeting some Felt sellers in person. And it was also wonderful to finally meet Sue, the amazing and very lovely organiser of Craft2.0 – watch this space for the result of that exciting crafty rendevous!

The Felt display generated heaps of interest thanks to an impressive range of samples lent by Felt sellers and the efforts of my lovely helpers Sheona and Chris, who spent the afternoon telling the world what Felt is all about.

The Felt prize draws were very popular, with prizes donated by amiana, agnescoy, pinkpinafore, lop, claribell, soheartfelt, casablanca, rotten_dolly, blackswan, formation, monkanoid, pandamonium, sazoriginals, elwert and shakyisles.

The prize packs:

The results of the prize draws were sent out on Friday in an email to everyone who entered – you can view it online here.

All in all it was a fab day out and well worth an excursion to Wellington (speaking as a Cantabrian). And the great news is, there’s more Craft2.0 where that came from! If you’re keen to know more about Craft2.0, drop me a line or contact Sue through the Craft2.0 website.

If you were at Craft2.0 this time around, post a comment below and tell us what you thought.
